The EGU General Assembly 2023 took place, as usually, in Vienna (Austria) 23-28 April 2023.
2 members of the lab presented their research on ecosystem structure and mass extinction events…

Alex Dunhill gave a keynote talk in the Climatic, tectonic, and biodiversity changes through hyperthermal intervals in Earth history (CL1.1.2) session entitled Extinction cascades, community collapse, and recovery across a Mesozoic hyperthermal event. Alex presented his talk virtually (from his home office in Bradford) due to illness. No schnitzel for Alex 😦 …

Amy Shipley presented a poster in the Mass extinctions and environmental changes throughout the geological time: Causes and consequences (SSP1.3) session entitled Ecosystem structure changes following a marine megafaunal Pliocene extinction and the role of continental shelf habitat loss.

Alex was also co-author on a poster by University of Leeds PGR Zhen Xu, presented in the Co-evolution of life and the Earth over deep time, and major transitions in Earth’s biosphere and environment (BG5.4) session, entitled Early Triassic super-greenhouse climate driven by vegetation collapse.
